Birmingham City Council Leader special guest at Richardson business lunch

Councillor John Cotton, the Leader of Birmingham City Council, is the latest guest speaker to visit the Richardson offices in Oldbury.

 

Councillor Cotton who has been the leader of the biggest council in Europe for the past three years, spoke and took questions from the invited guests on a range of subjects.

 

At the start of this month he confirmed that Birmingham City Council was no longer effectively bankrupt and had set a balanced budget for 26/27, including £130m set out for investment in key services.

 

Councillor Cotton spoke of his pride in the council being back in the mainstream of local government, the importance of working in partnership to deliver growth and the developing sectors that will create the jobs of the future.  He identified life sciences, green energy and advanced manufacturing as being key to the city’s success and how inclusive productivity must benefit everyone in the region.

 


Businesses quizzed him on skill gaps, artificial intelligence, the city’s identity and the upcoming elections,

 

The Richardson family regularly hosts forums for business leaders, as well as national and local politicians at their West Midlands HQ, to look at promoting the wealth creation sector in the region.
