Richardson are a proud investor in Gusbourne, a producer of exceptional English sparkling wine.

Not only are they performing strongly and selling their products to almost 40 countries around the world, but they are also putting in a significant effort to improve the sustainability of the wine.

It is now over 20 years since the first vines were planted in Kent, and throughout that period enhancing the environment has been at the heart of Gusbourne’s work.

In 2024, the business implemented its sustainability strategy, focused on five pillars:

  • Water

  • Carbon

  • Packaging

  • People

  • Land

Gusbourne is also a founding member of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain initiative, set up to encourage English and Welsh wineries to ensure their practices are as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible.

Among the ways in which the sustainability strategy is achieved, each winter flocks of Romney sheep graze the vineyards, controlling weeds without machinery and enriching the soil with their manure.

Across the estate, Gusbourne have planted fruit trees along with a botanical garden of native species such as silver birch.

It is this work which has been so important in securing Gusbourne the 2025 British Luxury Brand of the Year Award at the Walpole British Luxury Awards.

Gusbourne was also commissioned to produce the Royal Collection’s English Sparkling Wine for the coronations of King Charles III and Queen Camilla and won the King’s Enterprise Award for International Trade.

Cheers!
