John Joseph Donovan Business Person of the Year award, sponsored by Richardson

Martyn Richardson, from the Richardson family, recently paid a visit to John Joseph Donovan at JJX Logistics to personally present him with his Business Person of the Year 2025 award.

 John Joseph was unable to collect the Express & Star award, sponsored by Richardson, at the ceremony in June.  He was out of the country opening another new office as his business expands, although he was represented on the night to celebrate his win against stiff competition at this annual event.

John Joseph began his business in 1997 as a man with a van, aiming to provide a reliable, honest and customer-centric transport service.  Nearly 30 years on JJX is an international business and one of the UK’s most highly respected companies in time-critical high security logistics.

Martyn Richardson was pleased to call in the JJX HQ on the Pensnett Trading Estate to meet John and to see for himself the impressive operation that employs more than 70 people and that has seen a 16% year on year growth.

Martyn explained:

“I’ve followed John Joseph’s story over the years when I remember a colleague telling me that JJX was a business to watch just as he was starting out.  In many ways his story mirrors some of the Richardson story, where we started in the Black Country and now operate globally.  

“What is especially impressive is that John Joseph is a business leader with a clear strategic vision but also has a hands on, values driven approach.  His commitment to nurturing staff and encouraging apprenticeships and trainees, as well as his considerable contributions to supporting the local community are to be commended.  I congratulate him whole heartedly in being the Richardson’s Business Person of the Year.”
