Burning Barn Rum – the craft drinks brand based in Solihull – makes its national TV debut on Thursday night (24th November) with an appearance on Channel 4’s hit show, ‘Aldi’s Next Big Thing’.
Presented by Anita Rani and Chris Bavin, the show features craft food and drink producers from across the country pitching their products at judges including Julie Ashfield, the Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, in the hope of securing a contract that will see Aldi stock their product throughout their 1,000 UK stores.
Each week the show features 6 businesses competing to impress the judges and win a contract, with Burning Barn Rum featuring on the ‘Treats’ episode that airs on Thursday 24th November at 8pm.
Commenting, Harry Jenner , COO of Burning Barn said:
“Following our brand’s success with Tesco, we know there is a big appetite for our rum in national grocery stores. The traditional rules of supermarket behaviour are changing, and people are looking for exciting, premium products alongside their great value staples.
We were delighted to be invited to pitch to Aldi, a supermarket who champions British producers and are leading the way in innovation.”
Katherine Jenner, CEO of Burning Barn added:
“It’s such a buzz to see our handcrafted products on Channel 4, and with the potential to see them on Aldi shelves nationwide!
Filming the show was a nerve-wracking experience, and while we can’t reveal the outcome it is fair to say that we were absolutely thrilled with the judges response to our rum.”
Burning Barn Rum was launched in 2017 by Katherine Jenner after a severe fire at her family farm. From the ashes, Katherine and husband Harry set about creating a true craft offering for rum drinkers and now offer an exciting range of smoked, spiced and flavoured rums, together with ready mixed rum drinks in a can.
In 2018 the business won the Richardson Brothers Foundation ‘New Venture’ Award, which resulted in an investment in the business as it began its growth journey, and continues to this day.
