Manchester City Council has approved plans for the development of Horizon, a cluster of nine last mile logistics units at Manchester Business Park, close to Manchester Airport.

Designed by AEW Architects, the £30m GDV development will deliver 116,000 sq ft of commercial space in units ranging from 6,653 sq ft to 22,344 sq ft.

Ask acquired the 7.8 acre plot last year and construction will start on site later this summer.

Jamie Hills, development director for Ask said:

“We are really pleased to secure planning for Horizon and are looking forward to appointing a contractor ahead of making an immediate start on site
“Horizon will feature last mile commercial space for businesses at a key airport location, creating jobs for local people and further contributing to the local economy and the prosperity of Wythenshawe.”

Horizon sits between a number of well-established companies on Manchester Business Park including Costain, Emirates, Regus and PZ Cussons with immediate access to the airport, J5 of the M56 and the A555.

Newmark have been appointed as letting agents for Horizon which will target a range of businesses including those in hi-tech industries, aviation, logistics and warehousing sectors.

The units will deliver the highest sustainability and smart credentials, will be BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and designed to be net zero in operation.

The development also sits alongside the £1bn MIX MANCHESTER development which will create up to 2 million sq ft of mid tech, advanced manufacturing space, R&D labs and office space as well as hotels, leisure facilities and public areas.

Deloitte advised Ask on planning. The professional team also includes Motion Project Management, and KAM.
