New Venture

The £30k investment through the New Ventures award is made from the Richardson Brothers Foundation and underlines the direction of the business today, with its international growth capital portfolio.

Each year a shortlist of regional businesses compete for the £30k investment, as the family recognise the strength of young, entrepreneurial business across the Midlands.

Burning Barn

In 2018 Burning Barn, based in Solihull, was victorious.  The business was launched by Katherine Jenner in 2016, after a severe family fire at the family farm.  From the ashes Katherine was inspired to launch her own brand of fiery smoked rum that is building a successful customer base, due to its strong brand and distinct flavours.

The Richardson family continues to look for further investment opportunities for their core investment portfolio. Typically, they are looking to support growth capital projects of between £2million and £10million with their private equity interests growing across a range of exciting businesses.

"The investment from the Richardson family has made a huge difference. It has really broadened our horizons and enabled us to look at how we can expand"
