Richardsons Capital has been given the green light for two residential schemes of more than 500 homes.
The developer, in a joint venture with Carillion, got permission for a new residential quarter in Bathgate, near Edinburgh, Scotland, on a 21-acre site on Whitburn Road.
Plans include 250 new homes, alongside an 80,000 sq ft food store, which has been sold to Morrisons, plus a further 20,000 sq ft for ancillary retail uses. A further 30,000 sq ft retail phase is also planned and is awaiting consent.
Work is due to start on site in April and completion is due in June 2011.
GVA Grimley is advising Richardson Carillion.
Richardsons has also won outline planning for a 23-acre residential development at Castle Donnington, in Leicestershire.
The phased housing development will provide up to 275 new family-friendly and affordable homes close to the village centre.
The residential development is a departure for Oldbury-based Richardson’s which normally concentrates on mixed-use and commercial schemes such as Merry Hill in Dudley and the regeneration of Ravenscraig in Lanarkshire.
Director Lee Richardson said the scheme continued the company’s mixed portfolio strategy.
A detailed planning application will be submitted shortly.
Depending on market conditions, the scheme will be phased over five years. |
