Interns complete summer placement at RCL

Two summer interns, both with West Midlands connections, have completed a week-long placement with RCL Associates Ltd, the retained advisors to the Richardson family, as part of an internship programme the organisation is running across the summer.

Tyra Allsopp-Sewell, a first-class graduate in Financial Economics from Birmingham City University (BCU) and Ross Derrick, a Business and Computer Science undergraduate from the University of Birmingham, spent a week working on projects with the RCL investment team, concluding the experience with a presentation to senior management as part of a weekly team investment session.

Paul Faulkner, Chief of Staff at RCL, said,

“While covid restrictions have meant that our summer internship programme has needed to be run remotely, we were determined not to let the pandemic get in the way of our commitment to supporting students gain valuable work experience.

“Tyra and Ross had projects looking at the emerging climate friendly power market, with a focus on battery technology, and trends in the West Midlands investment market, both of which are directly relevant to our business, and delivered some very impressive work and insights over the course of the week.”

Professor Julian Beer, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of BCU said,

“I am really pleased to see that RCL Partners and the Richardson Family are offering internships this summer and that some of them have gone to BCU graduates and undergraduates already. These provide a vital first step in gaining work experience and adding that to their CVs in order to help them secure long term roles.”

Additional cohorts of interns have already been selected and will complete week long placements with the team at RCL in July and August.
