Dr Roy Richardson has been honoured at this year’s Black Country Chamber of Commerce awards.

Roy was announced as the recipient of the Chamber’s lifetime achievement award, at an event celebrating Black Country heroes.

The honour recognises the impact of the business he founded more than 70 years ago with his twin brother, Don. Today Roy is Life President of the organisation that grew from humble beginnings in the Black Country into an international trading and investment business.

For the past 20 years it has been successfully run by his three sons, Martyn, Lee and Carl and is recognised as a leader in real estate and growth capital, with a business portfolio embedded across the world and current projects totalling in excess of £1.3billion.

Corin Crane, Chief Executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, said:

“I can’t think of a better person than Roy Richardson to receive our Black Country hero lifetime achievement award. Roy is completely approachable, very down to earth and his knowledge of the area is second to none. He is also a massive champion for the Chamber which is so important to us.
“Beyond that, the Richardson name is a global name whether it’s through their growth capital or real estate work and their advocacy for the region makes a real difference.”

Dr. Roy Richardson, said:

“It’s a real privilege to receive this award from the Black Country Chamber. Our business began over 70 years ago and has grown with a great team that has brought us success in this region and across the world. It’s a particular honour to get recognition from local people and a business organisation who know us best.
“An award like this recognises our impact in driving economic prosperity and creating jobs and I’m absolutely thrilled to be acknowledged in this way.”
